Jeffery S. Pockl, O.D.

Dr. Pockl is originally from Wheeling, WV. He is a 1993 graduate of Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. He interned in a private practice in Wheeling, WV and at Fort Jackson Optometry Clinic.

After graduation he served 4 years in the US Army as a staff optometrist. From 1999 to 2003 he held an Assistant Professor position at USC Speciality Clinics Department of Ophthalmology. He delivered lectures to ophthalmology residents and served as an attending physician in the primary eye care, low vision, and contact lens clinics. He also lectured to family practice residents and staff physicians at USC Thompson Health Clinic in the areas of Essential Eye Drugs and Contact Lens Complications. He left in May 2003 to open Devine Eyes with Dr. Matthews.

Dr. Pockl has lived in Columbia since 1994 and is a member of the South Carolina Optometric Association. He volunteers with the United Way and with his children’s school. He is married and has 2 children.

David J. Matthews, O.D.

Dr Matthews graduated in 1994 from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis TN. He interned with Dr Fanelli at the North Carolina Eye Center and St. Lukes Eye Clinic in Tampa FL. After graduating, he joined Vaught Eye Associates in the Conway/Myrtle Beach area treating patients with glaucoma and managing eye disease. Since 1999 Dr. Matthews has operated Southeast Mobile Eye, specializing in providing in-patient eye care to geriatric residents in skilled nursing facilities.In May 2003 he partnered with Dr. Pockl to open Devine Eyes, a primary eye care clinic and optical shop in Columbia, SC.
